Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS)

Michael Uram utilizes the approach Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) as described in the book written by Dr. Stuart Ablon & Dr. Ross Greene “Treating Explosive Kids” You can also find information on Collaborative & Proactive Solutions in Dr. Greene’s book, The Explosive Child and Lost at School. This subtype of cognitive behavioral therapy can be very helpful with children and adolescents diagnosed with challenging behaviors, i.e., Asperger’s Disorder, Anxiety, ADHD, ODD, OCD, etc. This approach helps parents manage their child’s response to anxiety inducing events or triggers. CPS is parents and children working together to resolve conflict. Including the child in the creation of the resolution to the issue decreases the level of conflict and builds the child’s ownership in the result.
